The U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services website is very convenient and easy to navigate. The website hosts many of the services you could otherwise complete via phone, with status updates via online access to your claims. Even so, though, many people contact my office with concerns regarding their immigration applications.
Below is a list of the most commonly asked questions.
How can I find out the status of my USCIS application?
Any receipt notice that you may have received from USCIS should include the status of your immigration application. The status of your claim will determine whether or not I can help you with your application. USCIS officials and my office are typically unable to check on any paperwork that is still within the normal processing time. However, if you have an urgent matter that must be addressed, please contact my District Office, at (480)-946-2411, and submit an Privacy Release Form and fax or mail it to my office with a brief summary of your case and any supporting documents.
If the normal processing time has passed, you may contact my District Office and my staff will be glad to assist you by making an inquiry about your application to USCIS. If there is a problem with your application, contacting one of my Congressional liaisons at USCIS should allow me to determine where the problem lies and what necessary steps should be taken in order to solve the problem. If there is not a problem with your application, then this office will at least be able to assure you that it has not been forgotten, and that any delay may simply be the result of an increase in USCIS’ work load. Because of federal privacy laws, I will need your written permission to make an inquiry on your claim. Please print and fill out an Privacy Release Form and fax or mail it to my office with a brief summary of your case and any supporting documents.
What if I have additional questions or concerns with my case?
The USCIS website has information on every type of form, addresses for USCIS offices, information on fee changes, and a place to order forms online or through the mail. The USCIS automated information line is also available 24 hours a day at, 1-800-767-1833.
However, you are always welcome to contact my office if you would prefer to speak with someone about those questions and concerns. My staff is always glad to assist you in any way that they can and can be reached at (480) 946-2411.
