Arizona Delegation to Host Virtual Military Service Academy Day

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Arizona House Representatives David Schweikert (AZ-06) Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01), Ann Kirkpatrick (AZ-02), Raúl Grijalva (AZ-03), Ruben Gallego (AZ-07), Debbie Lesko (AZ-08), and Greg Stanton (AZ-09), as well as Arizona Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly will host a virtual Service Academy Day on Saturday, June 19 at 10 a.m. MST.

Students, parents and educators interested in learning more about the admissions process and the Congressional nomination requirements can pre-register for the event at https://tinyurl.com/AZservicescademyday.

Congressional staff and representatives from the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and U.S. Coast Guard Academy will present details about the application process and be available to answer questions.

“It is one of my greatest honors as a Member of Congress to call Arizona students to personally let them know of their acceptance to a U.S. Service Academy,” said Schweikert. “I look forward to co-hosting this Service Academy event with fellow Members of the Arizona Delegation, where students can ask questions and learn more about serving our country. The U.S. Service Academies are some of the most prestigious and respected institutions, and I encourage every student in Arizona to go through the application process if interested in serving our nation.”

“Each year, it is my honor to nominate young Arizonans for appointment to U.S. service academies,” said O’Halleran. “I commend the hardworking students considering the admirable path of serving their country, and I am proud to co-host this event that will help set them up for success.”

“One of the great honors of this job is nominating talented young people to our service academies,” said Kirkpatrick. “I am proud to join my Arizona colleagues in hosting a joint Academy Day to help inform and inspire more students to serve our Nation.”

“Service Academies are a great opportunity to get a world-class education while preparing for a career in the military,” said Grijalva. “I encourage all eligible students to attend our Service Academy Day to find out how to apply for this prestigious honor and how my office can be of assistance.”

“As a veteran, it is an honor to assist bright and accomplished students who wish to serve our country in the armed forces,” said Gallego. “These young people are a testament to the value of hard work, and will make Arizona proud.”

“It’s my honor to nominate remarkable young people from Arizona’s Ninth District to attend our nation’s service academies. These historic institutions shape future leaders who go on to serve our country with honor, courage and character, in and out of uniform,” said Stanton. “I hope students, parents and educators take advantage of this opportunity to hear from admissions officers directly.”

“I am honored, as a Senator and graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, to nominate Arizona students for attendance at one of our service academies,” said Senator Kelly. “As a former Navy pilot, combat veteran and retired NASA astronaut, it is my privilege to continue my service to our country representing Arizona in the United States Senate. Attending a service academy is an incredible opportunity and responsibility. It is the first step in a life of service to our country, and I wish all those pursuing their goals of attending one of our prestigious academies the best of luck.”

“Our dedicated Service Academy students make Arizona proud through their commitment to keeping America safe,” said Senator Sinema. “I encourage all Arizona students interested in attending U.S. Service Academies to apply.”
