Washington, D.C. – Congressman David Schweikert released the following personal statement after the tragic shooting in Tucson, Ariz., earlier this morning that took the life of some and gravely injured his colleague, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords:

“Joyce and I are joining hands in heartfelt prayers for Rep. Giffords and all the other victims of this tragedy. It is unconscionable and while we are still awaiting all the details, we urge all Arizonans and Americans to pray for the victims of this terrible tragedy.”
