WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman David Schweikert (AZ-06) and Congresswoman Linda Sanchez (CA-38) introduced H.R. 4911, the Childhood Outcomes Need New Efficient Community Teams, or CONNECT Act, to give youth who come in contact with both the child welfare and juvenile justice system access to grants designed to better address their needs.

“Ensuring that we are helping children in the foster system receive the tools they need to succeed by removing systematic barriers between the child welfare and juvenile justice systems is very important. I am pleased to be a part of this bipartisan, bicameral initiative and look forward to seeing how we can help improve outcomes and opportunities for our most vulnerable children in need,” said Congressman Schweikert.

“Our most vulnerable children shouldn’t be caught up in bureaucracy. Too many kids who are in both the child welfare and juvenile justice systems are falling through the cracks. This bill would take away obstacles that state and local systems face so that they can work better together for our kids,” said Congresswoman Sánchez.
