Some believed that hell would freeze over before Donald Trump ever stepped again into the White House. Well, it’s Jan. 20, 2025, as I write this. Yes, it’s freezing cold in a place some believe is hell, Washington, D.C., but Donald Trump is alive and sitting in the Oval Office signing executive orders.

The country is in good hands this January day, from Fountain Hills to the White House. Locally, there are impressive elected officials ready to do great things; our new Mayor Gerry Friedel leading town government to new heights. Two new Council Members are seated; Rick Watts, who did amazing work on Planning & Zoning, and Gayle Earle, who brings her small business expertise to the council.

A Fountain Hills former resident and highly experienced law enforcement executive, Jerry Sheridan, is the new sheriff of Maricopa County. Our hardworking Congressman David Schweikert lives in town; he and his staff excel at constituent services.

Arizona State Senator John Kavanagh, a longtime resident, is exceptionally skilled at governance. You can catch him often on 550 KFYI radio with pithy commentary. And our two Arizona State Representatives, Joseph Chaplik and Alex Kolodin, are both rising stars down on Washington Street. Joseph came within a couple of votes of becoming Speaker of the House and Alex is a brilliant constitutional attorney.
