Schweikert And Larsen: Hosting APEC in 2023 is Great News for U.S. Economy
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representatives David Schweikert (R-AZ) and Rick Larsen (D-WA), co-chairs of the bipartisan Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Caucus, welcomed news that the United States will host the APEC meetings in 2023. APEC is a forum of 21 member economies working to drive balanced, inclusive and sustainable growth and economic integration in the Asia-Pacific region.
“U.S. leadership in APEC helps create economic approaches that are good for U.S. workers, industries and consumers,” said Larsen and Schweikert. “Last year, we urged President Biden to seize the opportunity to host APEC 2023 on U.S. soil, and we are pleased to hear this is now a reality. By hosting, the United States has an opportunity to help set an ambitious agenda that emphasizes free and fair trade along with investment that promotes jobs and economic growth and raises standards, including for labor, the environment, infrastructure and digital trade. We look forward to welcoming representatives from APEC member economies to the United States in 2023.”
Last July, Larsen and Schweikert joined Senators Chris Coons (D-DE) and Bill Hagerty (R-TN) to urge the Biden administration to host APEC 2023. For more information about APEC, click here.
