Washington, D.C. – U.S. Congressman David Schweikert (R-AZ) today appointed Katherina Dimenstein to serve as his next Chief of Staff. Oliver Schwab, who has served as Schweikert’s longtime top aide for nearly a decade, announced his transition Chief of Staff today.
Dimenstein assumes the role of Chief of Staff, having most recently served as Schweikert’s Legislative Director, where she has directed his policy leadership. Dimenstein joined the team in 2012 and has served every legislative role in the organization. In 2016, Dimenstein served as a policy advisor to Senator Joni Ernst.
Schwab departs the office after having served as Chief of Staff since January 2011. Prior to that role, Schwab managed Schweikert’s successful 2010 election to the U.S. House. As Schweikert’s Chief of Staff, Schwab directed strategy and operations to help Schweikert achieve two seats on the House Financial Services Committee and a seat on the House Ways and Means Committee. Additionally, Schwab directed a members services initiative, assisting Schweikert in assuming a cardinal seat on the GOP Steering Committee. After leaving Schweikert’s office, Schwab will undergo an immediate medical procedure after which he will assume work as a U.S. Coast Guard licensed maritime captain, in addition to a series of new ventures.
“Katherina Dimenstein is one of the most brilliant policy minds I have ever worked with. Arizona is extremely fortunate to have her on our team. She is an extremely skillful manager and carries my complete trust and confidence,” said Congressman David Schweikert. “Oliver Schwab has decided he is moving on to pursue other opportunities. We are going to miss him. Oliver is the best I have ever seen at helping people work through their needs. I am extremely grateful for the near decade that Oliver has devoted to serving Arizona. Anyone who knows Oliver can attest to his passion for history, commitment to our country, and work to restore civility to our politics. Oliver will always have my friendship and support.”
“I am excited and grateful to accept the position of Chief of Staff for Congressman Schweikert,” said Katherina Dimenstein. “From starting as Staff Assistant, greeting guests from the front desk, to being Congressman Schweikert’s Legislative Director, I am honored to continue to serve the people of Arizona in this new role. I am incredibly appreciative of Oliver’s service and he has built a fantastic team. His leadership and patriotism will be greatly missed!”
“To Congressman Schweikert, I share my friendship and loyalty. You have been an amazing boss,” said Oliver Schwab. “Arizona is truly blessed to have you represent them. I want to share publicly how much this team means to me. The decision to leave is a difficult one, but I am excited to begin a new chapter. Katherina Dimenstein is going to do a terrific job as Chief of Staff. She will bring a management model that will help Congressman Schweikert achieve even greater legislative successes for Arizona.”
