A Message from Congressman Schweikert
Here in Arizona, we are lucky to have so many incredible small businesses throughout our community. To ensure each of our owners and entrepreneurs has access to the most updated official resources, I created this webpage for you to explain the resources available, as well as my continuing support for small businesses.
My pledge to continue to protect small businesses:
Supported & proposed legislation that works to protect small businesses
Bill | Status | Bill Title | Description |
H.R. 748 (116th Congress) | ‘YES’ Vote | The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act or the CARES Act | COVID stimulus that provided small business with the Payment Protection Plan (PPP) and Economic Injury Disaster Loans |
H.R.6821 (116th Congress) | Cosponsor | The Small Business Expense Protection Act | This bill would have restored the ability of small businesses that have received PPP loans to deduct business expenses even if the expenses were paid out of PPP proceeds, freeing up much-needed capital on Main Street |
H.R. 5333 (118th Congress) | ‘YES’ Vote | The Investing in America Act | This bill amends the Small Business Investment Act of 1958 and makes thoughtful improvements to the SBIC program to ensure there are increased avenues for small firms to access capital |
H.R. 7103 (118th Congress) | ‘YES’ Vote | The Agency Accountability Act | This bill holds federal agencies accountable by requiring them to testify before Congress if they miss their goal for awarding a certain percentage of contracts to small businesses |
H.R. 7985 (118th Congress) | ‘YES’ Vote | The Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Reporting Act | This bill requires the Small Business Administration to issue a report to Congress on the challenges individuals with disabilities face when starting a business. Further, it will require the SBA to look at resources across the federal government that assist individuals with disabilities |
H.R. 7987 (118th Congress) | ‘YES’ Vote | The Plain Language in Contracting Act | This bill requires federal contracts to be written in plain language so that they are more easily understandable. It removes the barrier of “government-speak” for small businesses looking to enter the federal procurement marketplace |
H.R.1070 (112th Congress) | Original Sponsor | The Small Company Capital Formation Act | This bill reduces regulation and makes it easier for small businesses to raise capital and test the waters for a future initial public offering |
