Congressman David Schweikert Visits GateWay Community College During Small Business Week
WASHINGTON, DC – This week celebrates National Small Business week across the nation. On Monday, Congressman David Schweikert joined the Arizona Small Business Development Center (AZSBDC) staff at GateWay Community College in Phoenix to meet with Arizona small business owners. After the visit, Congressman Schweikert released the following statement:
"Small businesses are the backbone of our communities. We are seeing many small businesses relocate to Arizona from all over the country because of our welcoming regulatory environment. Arizona must continue to ensure each of our small businesses are receiving support to be competitive in the current market, said Congressman Schweikert. With the changes in our nation’s tax code, small businesses can now pay their employees higher wages and keep more of what they earn. I look forward to continuing to support small businesses and working to ensure they succeed in our communities.”
National Small Business Week has been celebrated for over 50 years. Each of those years, the United States has taken time to honor our nation’s entrepreneurs’ success and the strength they bring to the economy.
Arizona is home to more than 570,000 small businesses, employing more than 1 million Arizonans. These small businesses play a pivotal role in Arizona’s local economy and growth.
During the roundtable, small business owners discussed their experiences owning a small business and what hurdles they have had in owning a business.
The Arizona Small Business Development Center has been in the Valley for over 30 years. The Center provides services to businesses including networking opportunities, educational workshops, and one-on-one counseling.
