WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman David Schweikert (AZ-06) introduced H.Res. 427, a resolution aimed at promoting the awareness and opportunities biotechnology has in agriculture and released the following statement.
“Disruptive technologies are a part of the future of our society. From the health care industry to agriculture, we are continuing to see new technologies come to market that can provide efficient and cost-effective growth for our society. Today, I introduced a resolution to promote the safety and efficacy of innovative biotechnologies to help ensure our ranchers and farmers are best equipped to utilize new technology and resources to grow and sell their products throughout America and abroad. We are already seeing the positive development of biotechnology at play, and it is important that we continue to promote technologies that will create pro-growth solutions for our climate and carbon uptake.”
Background:
The resolution will encourage the Department of Agriculture to lead efforts, in conjunction with States, localities, universities, and various farming and ranching groups, to prepare for the future transformation of the agriculture industry.
