Scottsdale, Ariz., November 18, 2013 — Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ) announces a week-long supply drive to support aid efforts for Filipino victims of Typhoon Haiyan.
“Over a week ago, the Philippines experienced the greatest typhoon ever recorded in human history. Typhoon Haiyan left nothing less than a complete disaster in its wake, leaving surviving Filipinos without power, water, and food,” Schweikert said.
Many in our local Filipino community have family and friends who are suffering and need our help.”
More than two million people are in desperate need of life essentials such as water, food, and hygiene products. Schweikert’s District Office is conducting the drive in support of The 3000 Club’s relief efforts. Based in North Phoenix, The 3000 Club is a 501(c) 3 organization with strong ties to the local Filipino community. The group has pledged to take donations to the Philippines before Thanksgiving.
WHAT IS NEEDED: Donations of bottled water (individual or gallons), water purification tablets, and personal hygiene items.
WHERE: Donations can be dropped off at the District Office, 10603 N. Hayden Road, Suite 108, Scottsdale, AZ 85260
WHEN: Donations are due Friday, November 22 at 4:00pm
